FISHING REPORT March 20/08

This is Terry Fiddler with a nice Winter Steelhead caught on the South Umpqua. We have had 2 or 3 slow days so far fishing for Winter fish but most days have been good. The biggest fish so far have been 17 and a 25 pounds and they were caught on the North Umpqua River . We still have all of April to fish for winters and in April we have a chance to hook a Springer also.

FISHING REPORT January 18, 2008

This is Chuck Burly from Bend Ore, with nice wild Steelhead from the North Umpqua. He got 3 more also on Jan 16th. The water is in good shape now and all the guides I work with are doing well. It seems like there is a ton of fish. We will be at the Eugene sports show on Feb. 1,2,3, so drop by and see us and get your trips booked for the 2008 season.

FISHING REPORT Dec 29th 2007

This is Craig Estell showing off a nice 24lbs Chinook Salmon on the Sixes river. This was one of the few fish we got this year in December. The fishing on the Elk and Sixes rivers was not good at all and the fish numbers were way down, so now we are fishing for Steelhead in the Roseburg area. Yesterday I ran the North Umpqua and we hooked 3 steelhead and landed two 8 and 9 lbs. We had some other bites that just did not hook up. It looks like it is going to be a good year for winter Steelhead so give us a call and get booked early.

FISHING REPORT OCTOBER 24th, 2007

Alexi Gomes from New York holds up her first Salmon. This one was caught in September on the Main Umpqua. We ended up with 3 fish that day. Fishing for Salmon on the Umpqua was on the slow side this year but we still had a few good days. Steelhead fishing this summer was not good we have had a small run. We are now gearing up for Fall Chinook fishing on the Elk and Sixes rivers. We will start second week of Nov. and fish through Dec. so now is the time to get booked.

FISHING REPORT September 10th, 2007

On Sept 10th I ran the first Salmon trip  today on the Umpqua. We hooked 4 Salmon, fought 3 and landed 3. One 35 lbs and one 20 lbs. Maybe we will have a good run this year. We are all booked up for Sept and some of Oct. but now is the time to get booked for Fall Chinook on the Elk and Sixes rivers in November and December. Bas fishing this Summer was great.

FISHING REPORT JULY 7TH, 2007

July 7th 0/7 this is John Feeback of Roseburg with nice Smallmouth Bass. Shad fishing went well this year and now as you see we are into Smallmouth and it will be good all of July and August. Steelhead fishing is slow.

It's In The Net!

First of all we would like to thank every one that went Smallmouth Bass fishing with us, We had a great time this Summer. The Bass fishing was good. . We started fishing for Fall Chinook on Sept. 5th. The fishing has been good but spotty. One day we will hook 2 or 3 fish and land and land them or let them go 20ft form the boat. Other days we will hook 4 to 6 fish. Most of the fish are in good shape like the one in the photo above. The largest fish so far has been 36lbs. We are starting to see silvers now also. The Summer Steelhead fishing has been poor at best, we should do well into October. Now is the time to book your trips for the salmon fishing on the Elk and Sixes rivers. We hope everyone has a great fall and that we get to fish with you.
Thanks,
Gary

Fishing Report August 9, 2006

This is Megan Shoup with a nice Smallmouth Bass she got on July 26th. The Smallmouth Bass fishing is still doing well and we have the rest of August to go and the first week of September. Then it's on to Fall Chinook Salmon. Steelhead fishing has been slow so we still have some good Bass fishing ahead of us.

Now is the time to start thinking about fly fishing for Fall Chinook on the Elk and Sixes Rivers. I have the best tide dates for the Elk River because, as you know we fish the outgoing tides at the mouth of the Elk River. We start near the end of October and fish through November and December. The good dates for tides are:
  • October 27 thru 31
  • November 1 thru 5
  • November 18 thru 21
  • November 19 thru 21
  • November 26 thru 30
  • December 1 thru 4
  • December 11 thru 20
We can also fish other dates on the Sixes River because the tide does not effect it much when you are using the boat . So there are good tides as to fish and the weather? Hey, who knows? Now if you would like any of the dates above let me know and I will book you for the best available spot. First come first serve though so the sooner you get your dates picked, the better chance you will have.
Thanks,
Gary

Fishing Report June 26, 2006

June 26/06 this is Tina Proteet from Eugene with a nice Smallmouth Bass that she caught on our first Bass trip for the Summer. There will be many more caught in July and August. Water conditions are a bit high but they are dropping every day and the water temp is good for catching  smallmouth so get your Bass trip booked. We still have openings but they are going fast. A big thanks to all of the people who caught Shad with us in May and June.

FISHING REPORT June, 2006

Todd Inman looks on as his son holding up his first Shad caught on 6/5/06. Shad fishing has been spotty because of high water levels, but there seems to be a lot of Shad and the rest of June should be just excellent. We are also catching Smallmouth Bass and that will even get better as the water warms up. So now is the time to book a Shad and Smallmouth Bass combo trip.

May 5, 2006

This is Lance Wetteland form Roseburg with the first Shad of the year. Yes the Shad are in and it will just get better as the water drops. We fished for Shad Tuesday for about 2 hrs. and got around a dozen fish and also missed several bites. On Tuesday 5 - 2 2006 Lance also got a Springer that weighed 18lbs. The Springer fishing has been slow and hopefully it will pick up. If Springer Salmon does not pick up, we have Shad. It is time to get your Shad trips and your small trips booked because choice dates are going fast

Mar 9, 2006

This is Lance Wetteland with nice 10 lb. steelhead caught on 3/7/06 on the North Umpqua. Fishing has been good and should stay that way from now through the middle of April.

Jan 25, 2006

Even the guide catches a fish now and then. Got this nice Steelhead on the Elk river on Jan 25 on the fly rod and then let it go. We also landed one more fish and lost one. We ran clients on the next two days, hooked 5 fish and landed 3. The river was in good shape but a bit on the clear side. Fishing on the Umpqua rivers has been OK but will get much better when the water drops. As of today the rivers are on the rise.

Nov 21st 2005

Tom Cole form Portland landed this nice Fall Chinook on the Sixes River. The fishing has been good for most of Nov and we still have all of December to go. Depending on the weather the fishing should be very good with flies and bait, so if you want get in to some good Chinook fishing now is the time. There is nothing going on now with
Steelhead in the Umpqua but it should pick up around the end of December.

Fishing Report October 10, 2005

We had a good summer of bas fishing but we are now fishing for Fall Chinook Salmon and the fishing has been good. In the last week of fishing we have been averaging 3 to 4 fish a trip and many of them are from 25 to 40 lbs. Many have also been over 30 pounds. We will be fishing for Chinook through December.

Fishing Report July 3, 2005

July is a great month for Bass fishing. This young man caught this nice big Smallmouth  Bass plus about 60 or 70 more that ranged in size from 3 inches up to 4 pounds. This fish was caught on a Rapalla plug. Every thing is working well and they are really after flies. Steel head fishing is just starting and so far it is a bit slow but it will pick up later in August. Tthe Smallmouth Bass fishing is and will continue to be fantastic for the rest of July and August .

Fishing Report 8/21/2004

Fishing for small mouth bass is still red hot and will be for about 2 more weeks or longer if the weather stays hot . Steelhead fishing is not good at all water is too warm. When the weather cools down it will pick up. Now is the time to get your Fall Chinook trips booked. We will start fishing for them around the first week in Sept. Hopefully the water will cool down by then. If not, we will take you down to Grants Pass to the Rouge. We have had a very good bass summer and we are looking forward to a greater fall Chinook season. We will be fishing for them until the end of December. Thanks to all the fisherman who went with us this summer.

Fishing Report 7/15/2004

We are now fishing for smallmouth bass and Summer Steelhead. The Smallmouth Bass fishing is just red hot with catches of 125 to 200 a boat, depending on which way you fish. Dragging plastic worms, casting plug, or fly fishing, all are working well.
Size of fish are form 3 inches to 4 pounds with most fish around 1 to 1 ˝ pounds. Steelhead fishing is slow as the water is at this time a little to warm, so if you want to have some great fun join us for some Smallmouth Bass fishing.

Fishing Report 5/14/2004

The Shad are here. This one was taken on a trip last Thursday. Yesterday Dan and I had a two boat trip and we did well on shad with jigs and flies. Get your shad trips booked now call us at 1-541-672-2460 or E-mail Us.

Fishing Report 4/20/04

We are still catching winter Steelhead. Last week we had 3 trips and we hooked 23 fish size form 8 to 15 lbs. Some were down river fish and some were up river fish in great shape. Yesterday we hooked and landed 3 Steelhead. One was a down river fish and two were nice bright fish weighing 9 lbs and 12lbs. On Sunday we got a 15lb. Spring Chinook. Spring Chinook fishing has been slow. If we get rain the river will rise and that will bring up more Springers. All the rivers in the area need rain to get the Springer fishing going. It is raining now and we just hope it will rain more for us. I have heard of reports that some shad are being caught also.

Now is the time to get your Springer and Shad trips booked.

Your guide,
Gary Lewis

Fishing Report 3-29-2004

A good day on the North Umpqua. My boat hooked 8 steelhead but we only landed 3. All were about 8 to 12 lbs. Dan's boat hooked 10 steelhead and one of them was 16 lbs. On Saturday the first Spring Chinook was landed when fishing for steelhead. So, in about two to three weeks we should see more and more Spring Chinook hook ups. Now is the time to get Spring Chinook trips booked for the later part of April and the first part of May. Also get your Shad trip booked for the second half of May and June.

Your guide,
Gary Lewis

Fishing Report 3-13-2004

The first 1/2 of March we were doing very well on winter steelhead with many big fish in the high teens. On the North and South Umpquas. Now we have switched over to the North Umpqua and will remain there till the end of April. At the present time fishing is a bit slow the water is too low and clear and the fish are hard to get. Yesterday 3/13/04 we hooked 4 fish and landed 2 and they were around 9 lbs. Just last week we were hooking around 5 to 8 fish a trip many around 10 to 18 lbs. All we need is some rain and we will be  catching nice fish once more and maybe a Spring Salmon or two. Now is the time to get a Spring Salmon trip or a Shad trip booked. Just call or e-mail.

Your guide,
Gary Lewis
